Regular Season Round 18: Gaiteros - Toros 67-68

A very close game took place in Maracaibo between Toros and Gaiteros. Ninth ranked Toros (4-8) got a very close victory on the road over 6th ranked Gaiteros (6-8). Toros managed to escape with a 1-point win 68-67 on Sunday evening. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 19-12. But Gaiteros won second period 21-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was American point guard Andre Barrett (180-82, college: Seton Hall) who scored 12 points and 7 assists. Carlos Lopez chipped in 9 points and 8 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international forward Derwin Ramirez (191-82) who recorded 19 points and 7 rebounds and American-Dominican guard O'Darien Bassett (189-86, college: Troy) added 16 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Toros maintains ninth position with 4-8 record. Gaiteros at the other side keep the sixth place with eight games lost. They share the position with Panteras. Toros will meet higher ranked Trotamundos (#5) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Gaiteros will play against Guaros in Barquisimeto and hope to secure a win.
