Regular Season Round 19: Bergamo - Moncalieri 98-41

Everything went according to plan when third ranked Bergamo (16-3) outplayed at home 16th ranked Moncalieri (2-17) 98-41 on Sunday. Bergamo held Moncalieri to an opponent 24.2 percent shooting from the field compared to 52.9 percent accuracy of the winners. They outrebounded Moncalieri 45-32 including a 32-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Bergamo looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists comparing to just 5 passes made by Moncalieri's players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Bergamo made 7 blocks. It was a very good performance for naturalized Argentinian Mario Jose Ghersetti (201-81) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 17 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. Power forward Rei Pullazi (203-93) contributed with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Bergamo's coach Cesare Ciocca felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Swingman Leone Gioria (194-84) answered with 12 points and 5 rebounds and power forward Tommaso Pichi (202-96) added 3 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Moncalieri. Bergamo have an impressive series of ten victories in a row. They maintain third place in B with 16-3 record behind leader Forli. Moncalieri lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the sixteenth position with 17 games lost. Bergamo will face Milano Urania (#5) on the road in the next round. Moncalieri will play against Battaglia (#15) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
