Regular Season Round 18: Hapoel J-M - Ironi Nahariya 73-71

Fifth-ranked Ironi Nahariya (10-9) was very close to win a game against first ranked Hapoel Jerusalem (14-4) on Sunday. Hapoel Jerusalem managed to secure only two-point victory 73-71. However their fans expected much easier game. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Ironi Nahariya. The hosts trailed by 4 points after three quarters before their 21-15 charge, which allowed them to win the game. It was a good game for international forward Lior Eliyahu (205-85) who led his team to a victory with 13 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. American-Bulgarian point guard Earl Rowland (188-83, college: St.Mary's, CA) contributed with 18 points and 4 steals for the winners. Hapoel Jerusalem's coach Danny Franco used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Nigerian-American point guard Michael Umeh (188-84, college: UNLV) replied with 27 points and American Richard Howell (203-90, college: N.Carolina St.) added 15 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Ironi Nahariya. Four Ironi Nahariya players scored in double figures. Defending champion maintains first position with 14-4 record. Ironi Nahariya at the other side keeps the fifth place with nine games lost. Hapoel Jerusalem are looking forward to face Hapoel Eilat (#8) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Ironi Nahariya will play against Hapoel Holon and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
