Regular Season Round 36: Qingdao E. - Foshan LL 151-148 OT

Twentieth-ranked Foshan (6-30) made lots of trouble for fourteenth ranked Qingdao Eagles (16-20) on Sunday. Qingdao Eagles managed to secure only three-point victory 151-148. However their fans expected much easier game. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Foshan. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 41-31. But Foshan won second period 25-23. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening, at least not yet. The game turned upside-down in the last quarter, where Foshan used huge pressure winning it 40-36 getting a tie at the end of regular time. They lost eventually overtime period 10-13. Qingdao Eagles made 37-of-45 free shots (82.2 percent) during the game. Qingdao Eagles outrebounded Foshan 50-38 including 18 on the offensive glass. The game was dominated by American players. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard Jonathan Gibson (188-87, college: N.Mexico St., agency: Three Eye Sports) who helped to win the game recording 50 points (!!!), 7 rebounds and 9 assists (went 16 for 16 at the free throw line !!!) and center Alan Williams (203-93, college: UCSB) who added 23 points and 19 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was forward Jerrelle Benimon (203-91, college: Towson) with a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!) and 16 rebounds and swingman Jabari Brown (193-92, college: Missouri, agency: Octagon Europe) scored 37 points (!!!). Four Qingdao Eagles and five Foshan players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Qingdao Eagles moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with Shanghai S. Loser Foshan stay dead last with 30 lost games. Qingdao Eagles will meet higher ranked Xinjiang Flying Tige (#3) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Foshan will play against Guandong Tigers (#5) and hope to secure a win.
