The game in Umbertide was also worth to mention about. Fourth ranked Venezia (13-4) played at the court of 6th ranked Umbertide (7-10). Venezia did not have too big problems and got a relatively easy victory 75-58. It looked good early as Umbertide took a 4-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Venezia had a 34-17 second period charge getting the lead and Umbertide was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 58-75. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Umbertide to just 6 points in fourth quarter. Venezia made 21-of-22 charity shots (95.5 percent) during the game. Venezia had a 31-18 advantage in offensive rebounds. Slovakian center Marie Ruzickova (189-86, agency: LBM Management) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds for the winners and American swingman Karima Christmas (182-89, college: Duke) chipped in 19 points and 5 rebounds (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!). Four Venezia players scored in double figures. Venezia's coach Andrea Liberalotto allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American guard Meighan Simmons (175-92, college: Tennessee) responded with 24 points and 7 rebounds and Croatian center Ivana Tikvic (189-94) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points and 12 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Venezia have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain fourth place with 13-4 record. Umbertide at the other side dropped to the seventh position with ten games lost. They share it with Napoli. Venezia will play against higher ranked Familia Schio (#3) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Umbertide will play against the league's second-placed Ragusa (#2) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
