Rather expected game when 10th ranked Ironi Nes-Ziona (6-11) lost on the road to seventh ranked Maccabi Ashdod (8-9) 91-86. Ironi Nes-Ziona was ahead by 12 points after three quarters before a 28-11 charge of Maccabi Ashdod, which allowed them to win the game. They made 24-of-31 charity shots (77.4 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was American point guard Diante Garrett (196-88, college: Iowa St.) who had a double-double by scoring 18 points and 13 assists. The other American import power forward Charles Thomas (203-86, college: Arkansas) chipped in a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds. Five Maccabi Ashdod players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was international point guard Yuval Naimy (188-85) who recorded 35 points (!!!) and 5 assists and American forward Diamon Simpson (201-87, college: St.Mary's, CA) added 7 points and 17 rebounds respectively. Maccabi Ashdod maintains seventh position with 8-9 record, which they share with Hapoel Eilat. Ironi Nes-Ziona at the other side keeps the tenth place with 11 games lost. Maccabi Ashdod's next round opponent will be bottom-ranked Maccabi K/G (#12) in Kiryat Gat where they are favorite.
