Regular Season Round 7: Champville - Al Riyadi 88-94

Pepsi LBL top team - Al Riyadi (6-0) added another victory to their record. This time they beat eighth ranked Champville (1-5) in Dik El Mehdi 94-88. The guests were already 14 points ahead after 3 quarters before a 32-24 Champville's run in the last quarter cut the lead to 94-88 at the end of the game. Al Riyadi players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Champville was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a quality performance for American Aaron Harper (203-81, college: Mississippi) who led the winners and scored 33 points (!!!), 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 6 steals. International point guard Wael Arakji (193-94) accounted for 18 points for the winning side. Georgian power forward Nikoloz Tskitishvili (212-83, agency: Interperformances) came up with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 20 rebounds and American forward DeShawn Sims (203-88, college: Michigan) added 23 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Champville in the defeat. Five Champville players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Al Riyadi have an impressive series of six victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 6-0 record. Champville lost third consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with five games lost. Al Riyadi's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Beirut Sagesse.
