Regular Season Round 24: Azad - Samen 72-73

The most exciting game of round 24 in the Superleague took place in Tehran. This derby game ended with only one-point home defeat of 5th ranked Azad (15-9) to seventh ranked Samen (8-15) 73-72 on Monday evening. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 20-14. But Azad won second period 27-24. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international point guard Erfan Nasajpour (177-84) who helped to win the game recording 5 points, 13 rebounds and 6 assists and the former international swingman Ali Jamshidi (196-85) who added 15 points during the contest. Four Samen players scored in double figures. Samen's coach Mehran Hatami used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. The best for the losing side was international guard Javad Davari (185-83) with 24 points (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line !!!) and Senegalese center Bamba Fall (217-86, college: SMU) scored 13 points, 7 rebounds and 5 blocks. Samen maintains seventh position with 8-15 record. Azad at the other side keeps the fifth place with nine games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
