Regular Season Round 19: Al Shamal - Qatar 59-56

A very close game took place in Doha between Al Shamal and Qatar Sports Club. Seventh ranked Al Shamal (6-10) got a very close home victory over 9th ranked Qatar Sports Club (3-13). Al Shamal managed to escape with a 3-point win 59-56 on Tuesday evening. Qatar Sports Club was trailing by 2 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 18-14 charge of Al Shamal, which allowed them to win the game. It was a great evening for Moroccan-Canadian Mohamed Hachad (194-83, college: Northwestern) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 29 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists. American swingman Mildon Ambres (198-84, college: S.Nazarene) helped adding 12 points and 10 rebounds. At the losing side American power forward Malcolm White (205-88, college: LSU) responded with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 18 rebounds and the other American import guard Dontell Jefferson (196-83, college: Arkansas) scored 20 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. Al Shamal moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Al Wakrah and Al Khor. Loser Qatar Sports Club keeps the ninth position with 13 games lost. Al Shamal's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Doha to the arena Al Arabi.
