There was a small surprise when Livani (2-8) beat on the road Jekabpils II (4-7) 69-59 on Tuesday. The guests trailed by 3 points at the halftime before their 41-28 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Livani dominated down low during the game scoring 40 of its points in the paint compared to Jekabpils II's 16 and had 17 for 24 from the free-throw line, while Jekabpils II only scored one point from the stripe. Livani forced 20 Jekabpils II turnovers. Jekabpils II was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Forward Valerijs Kotekins (198-83) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 13 rebounds. Guard Daumants Pabrieza (183-87) contributed with 20 points for the winners. Four Livani players scored in double figures. Power forward Juris Kalnins (200-93) replied with 6 points, 17 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 blocks and swingman Edijs Stiebrins (190-96) added 14 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Jekabpils II. Livani will have a break next round.
