Regular Season Round 20: Macae - Paulistano 75-84

There was no surprise when 14th ranked Macae (4-14) was defeated at home by third ranked Paulistano (13-5) 84-75. Macae was ahead by 2 points after three quarters before a 33-22 charge of Paulistano, which allowed them to win the game. The winners were led by the former international center Caio Silveira (211-87, agency: Interperformances) who scored that evening 20 points and 9 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and the former international Luis Felipe Gruber (206-85) supported him with 18 points and 7 rebounds. Four Paulistano players scored in double figures. Paulistano's coach Gustavo Conti used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Even 27 points and 5 rebounds by Eddy Carvalho (196-87) did not help to save the game for Macae. The former international Marcio Dornelles (196-75) added 17 points and 9 rebounds for the hosts. Paulistano maintains third position with 13-5 record having four points less than leader Flamengo. Macae lost sixth consecutive game. They dropped to the bottom place with 14 games lost. Paulistano's next round opponent will be league's leader Flamengo in Rio de Janeiro and it will be for sure the game of the week. Macae will play at home against Liga Sorocaba (#13) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
