Regular Season Round 19: Al Sadd - Al Gharafa 41-57

The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Doha: Al Gharafa (#3) and Al Sadd (#2). Al Sadd was crushed at home by 16 points 41-57 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. It ended at the same time the nine-game winning streak of Al Sadd. The game was mostly controlled by Al Gharafa. Al Sadd managed to win fourth quarter 17-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Al Sadd to just 5 points in second quarter and to 14 points in first half. Al Gharafa held Al Sadd to an opponent 20.3 percent shooting from the field compared to 32.8 percent accuracy of the winners. American point guard Kevin Galloway (200-88, college: Texas Southern) fired a double-double by scoring 14 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. International swingman Abdulrahman Saad (185-96) chipped in 12 points and 9 rebounds. Ivorian-French center Mohamed Kone (211-81, college: Valparaiso) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 rebounds and international Ali Saeed Erfan (198-83) added 6 points and 11 rebounds respectively for lost side. Al Gharafa have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to second place, which they share with defeated Al Sadd. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
