There was no surprise in Valencia where 9th ranked Toros (4-9) were defeated by fifth ranked Trotamundos (8-8) 99-91. The hosts were already 23 points ahead after 3 quarters before a 35-20 Toros' run in the last quarter cut the lead to 99-91 at the end of the game. Trotamundos players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. Toros were plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international Dwight Lewis (197-87, college: USC) who helped to win the game recording 23 points and 9 rebounds. The former international point guard David Cubillan (181-87, college: Marquette, agency: Pro Sports) contributed with 28 points and 4 assists for the winners. American-Jordanian swingman Jimmy Baxter (196-80, college: S.Florida) answered with 18 points and 4 assists and the former international center Heberth Bayona (210-78, college: St.Francis, NY) added 10 points and 13 rebounds in the effort for Toros. Five Toros players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Trotamundos have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain fifth place with 8-8 record. Toros at the other side keep the ninth position with nine games lost. Trotamundos will again play against Toros (#9) in Maracay in the next round. Toros will have a break next round.
