Regular Season Round 21: Flamengo - Paulistano 75-65

An interesting game for Flamengo (17-3) which hosted in Rio de Janeiro 3rd placed Paulistano (13-6). First ranked Flamengo managed to get a 10-point victory 75-65. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Paulistano. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. The former international Marquinhos Vieira (207-84) nailed 17 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side and international point guard Rafael Freire Luz (188-92) accounted for 10 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Five Flamengo players scored in double figures. Flamengo's coach Jose Neto used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American point guard Kenny Dawkins (175-87, college: Lamar) came up with 15 points and the former international center Caio Silveira (211-87, agency: Interperformances) added 6 points and 12 rebounds respectively for Paulistano in the defeat. The victory was the eleventh consecutive win for Flamengo. Defending champion maintains first place with 17-3 record. Loser Paulistano keeps the third position with six games lost. Flamengo will meet at home SKY/Basquete (#5) in the next round. Paulistano will play against Caxias do Sul and hope to secure a win.
