The game in San Luis Potosi was also quite interesting. Second ranked Pioneros (28-3) played at the court of 8th ranked Santos (11-22). Pioneros defeated Santos 98-83 on Thursday. Pioneros made 18-of-22 free shots (81.8 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. It was a great evening for the former international Hector Hernandez (205-85, college: Fresno St., agency: Pro Sports) who led his team to a victory scoring 28 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. The former international swingman Romel Beck (201-82, college: UNLV, agency: Interperformances) helped adding 12 points. Pioneros' coach Manuel Cintron used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Chris Cayole (201-85, college: St.Michael's) responded with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds and the former international point guard Omar Quintero (182-81, college: S.Nazarene) produced a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 assists. Four Santos players scored in double figures. Pioneros have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They maintain second place with 28-3 record having 2 victories less than leader Soles. Santos lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keep the eighth position with 22 games lost. Pioneros will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Santos will play again against the league's second-placed Pioneros (#2) and hope to secure a win.
