Regular Season Round 18: Wildcats - Kings 95-81

Very expected game when 8th ranked Kings (5-21) were defeated on the road by second ranked Perth Wildcats (17-9) 95-81 on Friday. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 5-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 95-81. Perth Wildcats made 19-of-22 free shots (86.4 percent) during the game. Perth Wildcats outrebounded Kings 38-19 including a 15-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Kings' players. The best player for the winners was the former international center Tom Jervis (211-87, college: Troy) who had a double-double by scoring 23 points, 13 rebounds and 6 assists. The former international forward Jesse Wagstaff (203-86, college: Metro St.) chipped in 23 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Perth Wildcats' coach Trevor Gleeson used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was American swingman Josh Childress (203-83, college: Stanford) who recorded 30 points and 5 rebounds and the former international center Angus Brandt (208-89, college: Oregon St.) added 16 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Perth Wildcats maintains second position with 17-9 record behind leader United. Kings lost seventh consecutive game. They stay dead last with 21 lost games. Perth Wildcats will face Adelaide 36ers (#5) in Findon in the next round. Kings will play on the road against New Zealand Breakers in Auckland and hope to win that game.
