The game between closely ranked teams ended with Ventspils Augstskola's (2-6) road loss to RTU (5-3) in Riga 64-93 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by RTU. Ventspils Augstskola was better in second period 19-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. RTU forced 21 Ventspils Augstskola turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Ventspils Augstskola's players. Swingman Matiss Jankovskis (193-91) orchestrated the victory by scoring 17 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Guard Nauris Bikovs (183-93) contributed with 14 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Five RTU players scored in double figures. RTU's coach Dainis Bertans felt very confident that he used 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Forward Oskars Gorbants (185-97) replied with 31 points and 5 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) and center Aivis Lemanis (196-97) added 8 points and 13 rebounds in the effort for Ventspils Augstskola. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
