Regular Season Round 8: Al Riyadi - Sagesse 99-80

The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Beirut: Al Riyadi (#1) and Sagesse (#7). Al Riyadi (7-0) smashed visiting Sagesse (3-5) by 19 points 99-80. The game was mostly controlled by Al Riyadi. Sagesse managed to win fourth quarter 26-25. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Sagesse 39-27 including 16 on the offensive glass. Al Riyadi looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was naturalized Egyptian power forward Ahmad Ismail (205-76) who scored 15 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists. The former international guard Amir Saoud (187-91) chipped in 20 points. The former international swingman Elie Roustom (197-87) produced 18 points, 7 assists and 5 steals and American point guard Dion Dixon (190-89, college: Cincinnati) added 20 points and 4 assists respectively for the guests. Five Al Riyadi and four Sagesse players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Al Riyadi have an impressive seven-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 7-0 record. Sagesse lost third consecutive game. They keep the seventh place with five games lost. Al Riyadi are looking forward to face Byblos (#5) on the road in the next round. Sagesse will have a break next round.
