Regular Season Round 16: Hitachi SR - Aishin SH 88-77

There was a minor upset in Tokyo where 3rd ranked Aishin Sea Horses (21-8) were defeated by fifth ranked Hitachi Sunrockers (19-11) 88-77 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Hitachi Sunrockers. Aishin Sea Horses was better in second period 20-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Ira Brown (193-82, college: Gonzaga) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 18 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists and the other American import power forward Joshua Heytvelt (210-86, college: Gonzaga) who added 21 points and 7 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) during the contest. Four Hitachi Sunrockers players scored in double figures. At the losing side American power forward Gavin Edwards (206-88, college: Connecticut) responded with 19 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) and the former international swingman Kosuke Kanamaru (193-89) scored 19 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Hitachi Sunrockers maintains fifth position with 19-11 record. Defending champion Aishin Sea Horses keep the third place with eight games lost. Hitachi Sunrockers will face Dragonflies (#9) in Hiroshima in the next round. Aishin Sea Horses will play at home against Tsukuba R. (#12) and hope to win that game.
