Second Stage Round 1: Sparta - Amicale 72-89

There was no surprise in Bertrange where Sparta (7-12) was defeated by Amicale (19-0) 89-72 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Amicale. Sparta was better in second period 23-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Sparta's 38. Sparta was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. American forward Jordan Hasquet (206-85, college: Montana, agency: Dynamics Global Management) fired a double-double by scoring 24 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. The former international power forward Billy McDaniel (199-84, college: Ark.-Monticello, agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) chipped in a double-double by scoring 13 points, 16 rebounds and 5 assists. American guard Augie Johnston (185-86, college: CS Monterey) produced a double-double by scoring 20 points and 13 rebounds and the other American import power forward Rashad Hassan (203-89, college: Savannah St.) added 16 points and 15 rebounds respectively for lost side. Five Amicale and four Sparta players scored in double figures. Sparta's coach Philippe Giberti rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Amicale will face T71 in Dudelange in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Sparta will play on the road against Etzella (#5) in Ettelbruck and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
