Regular Season Round 16: Adelaide - SEQ 81-89

Rather expected game when 7th ranked Adelaide Lightning (8-13) was defeated at home by fourth ranked SEQ (13-8) 89-81 on Friday. The guests trailed by 7 points after three quarters before their 32-17 charge, which allowed them to win the game. SEQ made 24-of-28 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. Adelaide Lightning was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Jordan Hooper (188-92, college: Nebraska) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 31 points and 12 rebounds and guard Lauren Mansfield (170-89, college: Iowa St.) who added 21 points and 7 assists during the contest. At the losing side the former international point guard Leilani Mitchell (165-85, college: Utah, agency: LBM Management) responded with 24 points and 6 assists and American forward Mikaela Ruef (190-90, college: Stanford) produced a double-double by scoring 13 points and 16 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. SEQ have an impressive five-game winning streak. Newly promoted SEQ maintains fourth position with 13-8 record. Loser Adelaide Lightning keeps the seventh place with 13 games lost. SEQ will face bottom-ranked Canberra Capitals (#9) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Adelaide Lightning will play against Bendigo Spirit and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
