Regular Season Round 17: Sant Nicolau - Barbera 55-70

There was no surprise when 9th ranked Sant Nicolau (6-11) lost to fifth ranked Barbera (9-8) in Sabadell 55-70 on Saturday. It was a very close game until the last quarter, when Barbera's pressure prevailed and they won that period 25-14 extending their advantage to 15 points. Sant Nicolau was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Jose Bernuz (198-81) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds. Center Sergio Clemente (202-91) contributed with 12 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Guard Guim Exposito (197-94) answered with 15 points and 5 rebounds and guard Xavier Esteve (187-90) added 14 points in the effort for Sant Nicolau. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Newly promoted Barbera maintains fifth place in Group C-A with 9-8 record. Loser Sant Nicolau dropped to the eighth position with 11 games lost. Barbera's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Barcelona JAC Sants.
