Regular Season Round 17: Segle XXI - Leganes 49-68

Very expected game when 11th ranked Segle XXI (4-13) was smashed by fifth ranked Leganes (11-6) in Barcelona 68-49 on Saturday. The game without a history. Leganes led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Segle XXI to just 6 points in third and fourth quarters. Leganes forced 19 Segle XXI turnovers. Lucia Togores (176-96) orchestrated the victory by scoring 22 points (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Forward Paula Justel (186-92) contributed with 10 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Center Laia Sole (184-98) answered with 13 points and guard Silvia Serrat (183-99) added 7 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Segle XXI. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Leganes. They moved-up to fourth place in Group B, which they share with Plenilunio and UCAM Jairis. Segle XXI lost their fourth game in a row. They dropped to the twelfth position with 13 games lost. Leganes will face Plenilunio (#6) in Madrid in the next round. Segle XXI will play on the road against the league's leader Alcobendas (#1) and hope to win that game.
