Regular Season Round 16: Olimpi - Sokhumi 64-74

Another interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Tbilisi: Sokhumi (#5) and Olimpi (#6). Olimpi was defeated at home 64-74 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Olimpi. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Sokhumi dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Olimpi's 26. The winners were led by international Levan Patsatsia (198-88, college: Troy) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 17 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists and point guard Givi Bakradze (180-91, agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) supported him with 15 points and 5 assists. Five Sokhumi players scored in double figures. Even 18 points by the former international guard Revaz Rogava (191-93) did not help to save the game for Olimpi. British V.Islands forward Leslie Smith (203-91, college: Nebraska) added 9 points and 14 rebounds for lost side. Olimpi's coach Leonid Ivatin rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Sokhumi maintains fifth position with 8-8 record. Loser Olimpi keeps the sixth place with nine games lost. Sokhumi's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Tbilisi to the arena MIA.
