Regular Season Round 17: Araski AES - Aros Leon 82-58

Not a big story in a game when 5th ranked Aros Leon (10-7) was outscored by third ranked Araski AES (13-4) in Vitoria-Gasteiz 82-58 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Araski AES. Aros Leon was better in third quarter 19-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. Argentinian forward Maria Lineira (181-83) orchestrated the victory by scoring 18 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Arrate Agirre (175-93) contributed with 13 points and 4 assists for the winners. Five Araski AES players scored in double figures. Power forward Itsaso Conde (185-96) answered with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds and point guard Lucia Alonso (171-98) added 16 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Aros Leon. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the ninth consecutive win for Araski AES. They maintain third place in Group A with 13-4 record having just two points less than leader Alcobendas. Loser Aros Leon keeps the fifth position with seven games lost. Araski AES will face Aragon (#12) in Zaragoza in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Aros Leon will play at home against Cortegada (#10) and hope to win that game.
