Regular Season Round 17: Quart - Salt 75-76

A very interesting game took place in Quart. It ended with only one-point home defeat of leader Quart (14-4) to third ranked Salt (10-6) 76-75 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Quart. The guests were ahead by 8 points but lost the second period ending it with a 4-point deficit before their 27-22 run, which allowed them to win the game. Strangely Quart outrebounded Salt 41-27 including 28 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was point guard Xavier Torrent (176-90) who scored 16 points and 5 assists. Power forward Jordi Geli (207-84, college: California) chipped in 12 points and 7 rebounds. Four Salt players scored in double figures. American-Uruguayan center Brad Kanis (218-83, college: Grand Canyon, agency: Gamble Sports Management) produced a double-double by scoring 28 points and 10 rebounds and point guard Jordi Bataller (183-86) added 8 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists respectively for the hosts. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Salt have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain third place in Group C-A with 10-6 record having eight points less than leader L'Hospitalet. Quart at the other side still keeps top position with four games lost. Salt's next round opponent will be Sant Nicolau (#9) in Sabadell which should be theoretically an easy game. Quart will play against the league's second-placed Mollet (#2) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
