Regular Season Round 22: BAM Poprad - Samorin 63-58

The game in Poprad was also worth to mention about. 4th ranked Samorin (9-12) played at the court of sixth ranked BAM Poprad (7-16). BAM Poprad managed to secure a 5-point victory 63-58. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 16-3. But Samorin won second period 17-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when BAM Poprad won last quarter 23-20. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Samorin to just 3 points in first quarter. BAM Poprad dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Samorin's 30. Power forward Katarina Petrikova (182-80) scored 20 points and 5 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and point guard Angelika Theiner (175-92) chipped in 12 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. BAM Poprad's coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. At the losing side international guard Angelika Slamova (173-94) responded with 22 points and 6 rebounds and American forward Brittany Lewis (188-89, college: Louisiana Tech) scored 13 points and 9 rebounds. Newly promoted BAM Poprad maintains sixth position with 7-16 record. Samorin at the other side keeps the fourth place with 12 games lost. BAM Poprad will play against Banska Bystrica (#7) on the road in the next round. Samorin will play against the league's second-placed MBK Ruzomberok and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
