Regular Season Round 18: Polonia Bytom - MKS DG 2 107-70

Not a big story in a game when bottom-ranked MKS DG 2 (0-18) was outplayed on the road by second ranked Polonia Bytom (15-3) 107-70 on Saturday. Polonia Bytom dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to MKS DG 2's 28. They outrebounded MKS DG 2 46-16 including a 16-1 advantage in offensive rebounds. Polonia Bytom looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by MKS DG 2's players. MKS DG 2 was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was Emil Podkowinski (194-88) who had a double-double by scoring 37 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds. Forward Tomasz Gembus (197-87) chipped in 18 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Polonia Bytom players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was swingman Aleksander Zalucki (192-98) who recorded 33 points (!!!) and 5 steals (perfect from downtown making all seven shots !!!) and Jakub Wantuch (195-98) added 9 points respectively. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Polonia Bytom maintains second position in Group C with 15-3 record behind leader AZS AGH Alstom. Loser MKS DG 2 still closes the standings with 18 games lost. Polonia Bytom will face Zaglebie (#5) in Sosnowiec in the next round. MKS DG 2 will play on the road against MCKiS Jaworz. (#3) in Jaworzno and hopes to get finally their first victory.
