Regular Season Round 17: Cordoba - CAM E.Soler 54-58

There was a surprise result when seventh ranked CAM E.Soler (4-9) defeated on the road 3rd placed Cordoba (8-5) 58-54 on Saturday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Cordoba won third quarter 14-10. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Strangely Cordoba outrebounded CAM E.Soler 49-29 including a 21-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. American center K.C. Robbins (210-88, college: Ill.-Chicago) orchestrated the victory by scoring 8 points and 12 rebounds. Power forward Jose Martinez (201-88) contributed with 11 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Guinean forward Cheick Sekou Conde (203-92) answered with 20 points and 7 rebounds and American Matt Devine (201-91, college: Westfield St.) added 10 points and 14 rebounds in the effort for Cordoba. CAM E.Soler maintains seventh place in Group D-East with 4-9 record. Loser Cordoba keeps the third position with five games lost. CAM E.Soler will face higher ranked Cazorla (#5) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Cordoba will play against Velez in Velez-Malaga and hope to win that game.
