Regular Season Round 17: Chantada - Naron 62-61

There was a minor upset when 5th ranked Naron (6-6) was edged on the road by eighth ranked Chantada (6-6) 62-61 on Saturday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Naron won third quarter 20-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Guard Marcos Garcia (190-93) saved the victory by scoring 18 points and 6 rebounds. Point guard Jacobo De Benito (180-90) contributed with 13 points and 5 assists for the winners. British-American forward Steve Forbes (206-91, college: IPFW) answered with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 18 rebounds and Gabriel Gomez (195-95) added 6 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for Naron. Chantada moved-up to seventh place in Group A-B, which they share with defeated Naron. Naron lost their fifth game in a row. Chantada will face league's leader Agustinos-Eras in Leon in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
