Regular Season Round 9: Louaize - Champville 85-65

Bottom-ranked Louaize managed to get the second consecutive victory on Saturday night. This time newly promoted Louaize outleveled eighth-ranked Champville 85-65. It's especially surprising that the victory came too easily and 20-point difference suggests that Louaize is in a good shape to leave the bottom place. And what about a second win in a row after ...six consecutive losses. The game was mostly controlled by Louaize. Champville managed to win fourth quarter 23-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Louaize forced 19 Champville turnovers. American guard Geron Johnson (190-92, college: Memphis) nailed a double-double by scoring 22 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side and his fellow American import center Wendell Lewis (208-89, college: Alabama St.) accounted for 21 points and 8 rebounds. Four Louaize players scored in double figures. Georgian power forward Nikoloz Tskitishvili (212-83, agency: Interperformances) came up with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 19 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) and American-Guyanese Rawle Marshall (201-82, college: Oakland) added 22 points and 8 rebounds respectively for Champville in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Louaize (2-6) moved-up to eighth place. Champville lost their fifth game in a row. They dropped to the bottom position with seven games lost. Louaize will meet at home higher ranked Byblos (#5) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Champville will play against Homenetmen (#3) in Beirut and hope to win that game.
