Regular Season Round 35: Kanazawa Samuraiz - Osaka Evessa 56-78

Date: February 6, 2016
Rather predictable result in Ishikawa where fifth ranked Osaka Evessa (21-10) smashed 7th ranked Kanazawa Samuraiz (17-16) 78-56 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Osaka Evessa. Kanazawa Samuraiz was better in fourth quarter 17-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Osaka Evessa dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Kanazawa Samuraiz's 36. They outrebounded Kanazawa Samuraiz 43-31 including 32 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for American forward Lawrence Blackledge (206-86, college: Marquette) who led his team to a victory scoring 18 points and 8 rebounds. Swingman Soma Takuya (181-91) helped adding 14 points and 7 rebounds. Blackledge is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. American-Panamanian forward Gyno Pomare (203-86, college: San Diego) responded with 13 points and 8 rebounds and guard Yuji Yuji (181-88) scored 12 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Osaka Evessa have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain fifth place with 21-10 record. Loser Kanazawa Samuraiz keeps the seventh position with 16 games lost. Osaka Evessa will have a break next round. Kanazawa Samuraiz will play again at home against Osaka Evessa (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
