Regular Season Round 18: Viareggio - Bologna 63-43

There was an upset when higher ranked Bologna (10-8) was crushed on the road by eleventh ranked Viareggio (6-12) 63-43 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Viareggio. Bologna was better in second period 11-6. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Bologna to just 4 points in first quarter. Viareggio dominated down low during the game scoring 36 of its points in the paint compared to Bologna's 12. They outrebounded Bologna 38-17 including a 18-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was guard Federica Iannucci (175-93) who scored 22 points and 6 rebounds. Croatian guard Ana Bozic (176-88) chipped in 15 points and 9 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Federica Nannucci (170-91) who recorded 14 points and point guard Elisabetta Tassinari (175-94) added 9 points respectively. Bologna's coach Matteo Lolli rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Viareggio moved-up to tenth place in A2. Bologna at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the fifth position with eight games lost. Viareggio will face again higher ranked Bologna (#5) at home in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
