Regular Season Round 20: Verviers-Pep. - Kangoeroes 98-97

A very interesting game took place in Verviers. It ended with only one-point defeat on the road of 10th ranked Kangoeroes (4-12) to ninth ranked VOO Verviers-Pepinster (5-10) 98-97 in the fight for the ninth place. Kangoeroes were ahead by 4 points at the halftime before a 54-49 second half run of VOO Verviers-Pepinster. They dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Kangoeroes' 38 and made 20-of-23 charity shots (87.0 percent) during the game. American point guard Kelvin Parker (184-82, college: NW Missouri St.) saved the victory by scoring 25 points and 4 assists. Australian swingman Ben Madgen (193-85, college: Augusta) contributed with 19 points for the winners. VOO Verviers-Pepinster's coach Thibaut Petit used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American guard Vernon Taylor (192-87, college: Troy) replied with 29 points and 4 assists and his fellow American import Greg Mangano (208-89, college: Yale) added 23 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Kangoeroes. Four VOO Verviers-Pepinster and five Kangoeroes players scored in double figures. VOO Verviers-Pepinster maintains ninth position with 5-10 record. Kangoeroes at the other side keep the tenth place with 12 games lost. VOO Verviers-Pepinster's next round opponent will be higher ranked Belfius Mons-Hainaut (#8) in Jemappes and it may be quite challenging game. Kangoeroes will play at home against Liege Basket and hope to win that game.
