Regular Season Round 20: Quimper - SAP Vaucluse 78-67

There was a minor upset when higher ranked SAP Vaucluse (9-11) was defeated on the road by fourteenth ranked Quimper UJAP (9-11) 78-67 on Saturday. Quimper UJAP forced 22 SAP Vaucluse turnovers. SAP Vaucluse was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was American forward Dwight Burke (202-86, college: Marquette) who scored 23 points and 8 rebounds. The other American import point guard Omar Strong (175-90, college: Texas Southern) chipped in 12 points. Burke is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. Four Quimper UJAP players scored in double figures. Quimper UJAP's coach Laurent Foirest used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Mali power forward Cheick Soumaoro (204-90) produced 19 points and guard Damir Karaibrahimovic (188-89) added 14 points and 6 assists respectively for the guests. Quimper UJAP have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to tenth place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated SAP Vaucluse. SAP Vaucluse lost fourth consecutive game. Quimper UJAP will face JSA Bordeaux (#16) on the road in the next round where they are favorite.
