Regular Season Round 35: Niigata Albirex - Saitama Bron. 92-74

Everything went according to plan when fourth ranked Niigata Albirex (19-12) beat at home 11th ranked Saitama Broncos (3-26) 92-74 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 10 points after first quarter, but they stormed back and won the game by 18 points. Niigata Albirex dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Saitama Broncos' 32. They outrebounded Saitama Broncos 51-29 including a 18-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. Niigata Albirex looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. It was a great evening for Senegalese center Pape Faye (200-87) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 18 rebounds and 5 assists. Jamaican-American power forward Ryan Reid (204-86, college: Florida St., agency: Comsport) helped adding 19 points, 15 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 blocks. Four Niigata Albirex players scored in double figures. Niigata Albirex's coach Kazuo Nakamura used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Guard Janya Masumoto (183-88) responded with 17 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists and American power forward Evan Harris (206-86, college: Harvard, agency: I.D.S. Law) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points and 13 rebounds. Niigata Albirex maintains fourth place with 19-12 record. Saitama Broncos lost ninth consecutive game. They keep the eleventh position with 26 games lost. Niigata Albirex will face again Saitama Broncos (#11) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game.
