Regular Season Round 18: AZS UMK Torun - Basket Pila 85-75

Very predictable result when third ranked AZS UMK Torun (13-5) beat at home 11th ranked Basket Pila (3-13) 85-75 on Saturday. AZS UMK Torun forced 23 Basket Pila turnovers. Strangely Basket Pila outrebounded AZS UMK Torun 38-25 including 24 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. The best player for the winners was Radoslaw Plebanek (190-85) who scored 18 points. The former international center Dawid Przybyszewski (215-81, college: Vanderbilt) chipped in 12 points and 7 assists. Four AZS UMK Torun players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was power forward Maciej Adamkiewicz (199-89) who recorded a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds and Kamil Michalski (200-94) added 21 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) respectively. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. AZS UMK Torun moved-up to second place in Group A, which they share with Asseco II. Basket Pila lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the eleventh position with 13 games lost. AZS UMK Torun will face Trefl II Sopot (#7) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Basket Pila will play against Domino Inowr. (#6) and hope to win that game.
