No shocking result in a game when tenth ranked Alcobendas (6-8) crushed 13th ranked Estudiantes B (4-10) in Madrid 86-62 on Saturday. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Alcobendas outrebounded Estudiantes B 43-30 including 36 on the defensive glass. Estudiantes B was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. Center Jose Maria Gil (207-91) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!) and 18 rebounds (on 16-of-20 shooting from the field). Point guard Nicolas Bermudez (193-95) contributed with 9 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Point guard Sergio Sanchez (189-81) answered with 13 points and 6 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) and naturalized British David Sainsbury (203-94) added 9 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Estudiantes B. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Alcobendas moved-up to eighth place in Group B, which they share with Gran Canaria and Torrelodones. Estudiantes B lost their third game in a row. They keep the thirteenth position with ten games lost. Alcobendas will face league's leader Albacete at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Estudiantes B will play against Azuqueca (#6) and hope to win that game.
