Regular Season Round 35: Iwate Big Bulls - Gunma 73-64

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 7th ranked Gunma (14-17) was defeated on the road by eighth ranked Iwate Big Bulls (14-15) 73-64 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 4 points after three quarters before their 19-6 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Iwate Big Bulls dominated on the defensive end, holding Gunma to just 6 points in fourth quarter. It was a great evening for guard Fujie Tatsunori (184-87) who led his team to a victory scoring 28 points and 4 assists. American forward Patrick Sanders (201-85, college: Cal-Irvine, agency: Interperformances) helped adding 11 points and 6 rebounds. Iwate Big Bulls' coach Geoffrey Katsuhisa used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. American forward Thomas Kennedy (201-87, college: Detroit Mercy) responded with 28 points and 6 rebounds and the other American import power forward Mike St.John (203-84, college: La Salle, agency: Global Sports Plaza) scored 8 points and 9 rebounds. Iwate Big Bulls moved-up to seventh place. Gunma lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the eighth position with 17 games lost. Iwate Big Bulls will face again Gunma (#9) at home in the next round.
