Regular Season Round 20: Al Jaysh - Al Rayyan 71-78

Another interesting game was again a derby between two teams from Doha: Al Rayyan (#1) and Al Jaysh (#4). Al Jaysh was defeated at home 71-78 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. Al Jaysh was ahead by 3 points after three quarters before a 22-12 charge of Al Rayyan, which allowed them to win the game. They also forced 20 Al Jaysh turnovers. American players dominated the game. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard Dominic James (180-86, college: Marquette) who helped to win the game recording 25 points and 6 assists and center Kwame Alexander (201-90, college: CS San Bernar.) who added 16 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. Forward Sammy Monroe (198-85, college: Newberry) responded with 28 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists and power forward Vernon Macklin (208-86, college: Florida) produced a double-double by scoring 26 points and 10 rebounds. Al Rayyan (16-1) have an impressive nine-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position. Al Jaysh lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourth place with seven games lost. Al Rayyan's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Doha Al Sadd.
