Second Stage Round 5: Solna Branten - KFUM Uppsala 89-36

There was a change at the Basketettan leadership position after last games. Round 5 most important game was a defeat of league's leader KFUM Uppsala (6-2). They were crushed by second ranked Solna Branten (6-1) 89-36 on Saturday night. It was a key game for the top position in Superettan. The game without a history. Solna Branten led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding KFUM Uppsala to just 7 points in first and second quarters and to 14 points in first half. Solna Branten held KFUM Uppsala to an opponent 21.5 percent shooting from the field compared to 42.2 percent accuracy of the winners. Solna Branten forced 22 KFUM Uppsala turnovers and outrebounded them 61-34 including a 23-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. Solna Branten looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by KFUM Uppsala's players. Kenyan forward Tylor Ongwae (199-91, college: La-Monroe) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 13 rebounds for the winners and American center Nick Smith (201-92, college: Dominican, NY) chipped in 19 points and 15 rebounds. Forward Tobias Skyttevall (196-95) responded with 17 points and 7 rebounds and forward Oliver Ehrnvall (197-96) scored 4 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Solna Branten keeps a position of Superettan leader. KFUM Uppsala at the other side dropped to the third place with two games lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Solna Branten. KFUM Uppsala will play next round against strong Hogsbo trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Solna Branten will try to continue on its current victory against eighth ranked Talje Knights on the road.
