Regular Season Round 16: Perth - SEQ 71-87

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked Perth Lynx (14-7) at the home court on Saturday night. Hosts were defeated by fourth ranked SEQ (13-8) 87-71. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Perth Lynx. The guests trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 9-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 87-71. SEQ dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Perth Lynx's 30 and made 22-of-29 free shots (75.9 percent) during the game, while Perth Lynx only scored five points from the stripe. SEQ forced 21 Perth Lynx turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international guard Rebecca Allen (185-92) who helped to win the game recording 20 points and 7 rebounds and Nigerian-American Ify Ibekwe (187-89, college: Arizona, agency: LBM Management) who added 16 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. Four SEQ players scored in double figures. At the losing side power forward Carley Mijovic (196-94, agency: LBM Management) responded with 34 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds and American forward Betnijah Laney (183-93, college: Rutgers, agency: LBM Management) scored 16 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. SEQ have an impressive five-game winning streak. Newly promoted SEQ maintains fourth position with 13-8 record. Perth Lynx at the other side dropped to the third place with seven games lost. SEQ are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Canberra Capitals (#9) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Perth Lynx will play against Sydney Uni Flames (#6) and is hoping to win this game.
