Regular Season Round 18: Trefl II Sopot - Koscian 92-67

There was no surprise when 9th ranked Koscian (5-9) was crushed on the road by seventh ranked Trefl II Sopot (8-10) 92-67 on Sunday. Trefl II Sopot outrebounded Koscian 35-16 including a 25-12 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was Pawel Krefft (192-96) who scored 20 points and 5 assists. Rafal Stefanik (197-94, agency: Promotex) chipped in 19 points. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Waldemar Kabat (196-86) who recorded 21 points and point guard Pawel Kopcinski (178-95) added 15 points and 4 assists respectively. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Trefl II Sopot have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain seventh position in Group A with 8-10 record. Koscian lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the ninth place with nine games lost. Trefl II Sopot will face higher ranked AZS UMK Torun (#3) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Koscian will play against SMS PZKosz (#8) in Wladyslawowo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
