Regular Season Round 17: Estela - Pielagos 89-88

Leading Pielagos (11-2) recorded its second loss in Santander. Visitors were edged by fourth ranked Estela (10-3) 89-88. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Pielagos. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in Group A-A. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 24-17. But Pielagos won second period 28-26. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Point guard Adria Baiget (190-89) stepped up and scored 25 points and 4 assists (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) for the winners and American forward Spenser Mitchell (203-92, college: St.Leo) chipped in 15 points and 11 rebounds. Guard David Garcia (192-80) responded with 25 points, 7 assists and 5 steals and forward Miguel Molina (197-89) scored 18 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Estela have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to second place in Group A-A, which they share with 3 other teams. Pielagos at the other side still keeps top position with two games lost. Estela will play against Easo (#4) in San Sebastian in the next round. Pielagos will play at home against La Fecha and hopes to get back on the winning track.
