Hitachi Cougars' fans can celebrate the first win of their team after four consecutive losses. They used home court advantage to defeat Niigata R. (0-5) 54-36 on Sunday. Hitachi Cougars held Niigata R. to an opponent 22.1 percent shooting from the field compared to 34.8 percent accuracy of the winners. The former international forward Reika Takahashi (177-88) nailed 11 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side and guard Kasumi Takahashi (167-87) accounted for 8 points and 9 rebounds. Power forward Mei Chi (175-90) came up with 9 points and 11 rebounds and Hatanaka Miho (177-85) added 9 points and 12 rebounds respectively for Niigata R. in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Hitachi Cougars maintains tenth place in Places 6-11 with 1-4 record. It was Niigata R.'s fifth loss in a row.
