Regular Season Round 19: Maccabi K/G - Maccabi Ashdod 88-84

Bottom-ranked Maccabi K/G managed to get the second consecutive victory. This time newly promoted Maccabi K/G won against seventh-ranked Maccabi Ashdod in Kiryat Gat 88-84. Maccabi Ashdod was tied at the half but could not keep up in last two quarters eventually losing the game. Strangely Maccabi Ashdod outrebounded Maccabi K/G 40-27 including 26 on the defensive glass. It was an exceptional evening for American point guard Paul Delaney (188-86, college: UAB, agency: Three Eye Sports) who led the winners and scored 27 points and 4 assists (made all of his seven free throws). Naturalized Polish point guard Nimrod Tishman (197-91, agency: Avi Zilberman) accounted for 20 points and 5 rebounds for the winning side. Four Maccabi K/G players scored in double figures. Naturalized Swedish power forward Jonathan Skjoldebrand (204-83, agency: Ronsport) came up with 27 points and 5 rebounds (perfect behind the arc making all eight shots !!!) and American point guard Diante Garrett (196-88, college: Iowa St.) added 20 points and 6 assists respectively for Maccabi Ashdod in the defeat. Maccabi Ashdod's coach Zvi Sherf rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Maccabi K/G (6-13) moved-up to eleventh place. Maccabi Ashdod at the other side keeps the seventh position with ten games lost. Maccabi K/G will play against higher ranked Bnei Hasharon (#5) in Hod Hasharon in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Maccabi Ashdod will play at home against Maccabi Rishon and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
