Regular Season Round 36: Niigata Albirex - Saitama Bron. 78-65

There was no surprise when 11th ranked Saitama Broncos (3-27) were defeated on the road by fourth ranked Niigata Albirex (20-12) 78-65 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 4-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 78-65. Niigata Albirex dominated on the defensive end, holding Saitama Broncos to just 6 points in second quarter. The best player for the winners was Senegalese center Pape Faye (200-87) who had a double-double by scoring 11 points, 14 rebounds and 5 assists. Kotakeshi Sato (186-84) chipped in 19 points and 4 assists. Five Niigata Albirex players scored in double figures. Niigata Albirex's coach Kazuo Nakamura used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Janya Masumoto (183-88) who recorded 37 points (!!!), 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals and guard Yuta Kurihara (176-81) added 12 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists respectively. Niigata Albirex have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain fourth position with 20-12 record. Saitama Broncos lost tenth consecutive game. They keep the eleventh place with 27 games lost. Niigata Albirex will face Yokohama BC (#6) on the road in the next round. Saitama Broncos will play against Iwate Big Bulls (#7) and hope to win that game.
