The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked CASLA (21-16) in Santiado Estero on Sunday night. Visitors were defeated by fifth ranked Quimsa (17-14) 84-77. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 23-14. But CASLA won second period 22-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Quimsa made 19-of-25 free shots (76.0 percent) during the game. 26 personal fouls committed by CASLA helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for the former international forward Nicolas Romano (200-87) who led his team to a victory with 18 points. American guard David Jackson (195-82, college: Penn St.) contributed with 19 points for the winners. International guard Nicolas Aguirre (188-88) replied with 15 points and 4 assists and point guard Lucas Faggiano (189-89, college: LIU Brooklyn) added 12 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for CASLA. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Quimsa have a solid four-game winning streak. Defending champion moved-up to fourth place. Newly promoted CASLA still keeps top position with 16 games lost. Quimsa are looking forward to face league's second-placed Obras Basket in Buenos Aires in the next round and it may be the game of the week. CASLA will play on the road against the league's leader Olimpico de La Banda and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
