An interesting game was also surprising road defeat of 5th ranked Santarcangelo in a game versus Monsummano (#8) 92-80. Monsummano dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Santarcangelo's 30. The winners were led by power forward Giorgio Sgobba (202-92) who scored that evening 26 points and 9 rebounds and point guard Andrea Tommei (181-91) supported him with 22 points. Even a double-double of 19 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists by swingman Luca Bedetti (193-89, agency: Interperformances) did not help to save the game for Santarcangelo. Naturalized San Marino guard Julian Gualtieri (191-95, college: FIU) added 16 points for the guests. Five Santarcangelo players scored in double figures. Despite that victory Monsummano went down to ninth position (B) due to points difference. Newly promoted Santarcangelo keeps the fifth place with seven games lost. Monsummano will meet at home Livorno (#13) in the next round. Santarcangelo will play against Faenza (#10) and hope to secure a win.
