Regular Season Round 16: Canberra - Dandenong 69-73

Date: February 7, 2016
Bottom-ranked Canberra Capitals (0-21) is still winless. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their 21th consecutive match to third ranked Dandenong Rangers (15-7) 73-69. The guests were ahead by 6 points but lost the second period ending it with a 1-point deficit before their 23-18 run, which allowed them to win the game. It was a very good performance for international forward Sara Blicavs (188-93) who helped to win the game recording 17 points and 8 rebounds. The former international guard Stephanie Cumming (178-90) contributed with 14 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Dandenong Rangers' coach Larissa Anderson allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. American point guard Renee Montgomery (170-86, college: Connecticut, agency: LBM Management) replied with 20 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists and her fellow American import forward Denesha Stallworth (190-92, college: Kentucky, agency: LBM Management) added 15 points and 12 rebounds in the effort for Canberra Capitals. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Dandenong Rangers have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place. Canberra Capitals at the other side still closes the standings. Dandenong Rangers' next round opponent will be league's leader Townsville Fire on the road and it will be for sure the game of the week. Canberra Capitals will play against SEQ (#4) in Crestmead and hope to get finally their first victory.
